A.I. Statement
Will Alexis Keenan Video use A.I. for my projects?
The short answer:
Alexis Keenan Video does not use Generative A.I.
The long answer:
Generative A.I. is an incredible tool that continues to evolve, and while I appreciate the uses that it offers for video and storytelling, I prefer to err on the side of caution. I have always been a stickler for ensuring all music and stock images, etc., used in projects are licensed for their intended use.
At this moment, there is no way to ensure that projects using Generative A.I. are licensable. Due to the methods through which some A.I. has been trained, there is no way to copyright and license the creative outputs. In fact, most Generative A.I. tools specify that any creations made using their tools cannot be copyrighted.
To avoid any legal surprises down the road or any disruptions to the use of a completed video, I believe the safest path is to avoid using Generative A.I.
In addition to general legal and copyright reasons, my own preferences lean toward the ingenuity of human thought, the creative process and putting pen to paper when ideating truly unique projects.
While working on a project, every creative decision is made with intention and attention to detail for specific use cases. Generative A.I. is not able to offer creative solutions with intention specific to projects and their goals.
When crafting visual stories, I firmly believe in the power of the human mind, ingenuity and the ability to think critically about creative decisions.
On a more personal note, I got into this line of work to create art in collaboration with fellow artists, clients and my own imagination and labor. I never wanted to be a prompt engineer.
Finally, I don't support the descruction of communities and our environment to create massive data centers for tech billionaires to profit endlessly while we slide further into a distopian future.
For these reasons Generative A.I. will not be used for projects.
