Tech Animation Process
I had the good fortune to work with two companies, Exaloop and Trilio, to create landing page videos that spoke to audiences who were in the market for specific cloud based solutions. Since the videos needed to appeal to those already familiar with the technology, I had to bring myself up to speed, rather than simplify the tech for wide audiences.
A huge thank you to both Exaloop and Trilio founders for their patience and taking my questions, ChatGPT for explaining concepts to me like I'm 5, and to my husband, who understands the language of computers.
Finding The Style
After becoming familiar enough with the programs to create a storyline, I got started working out how to visually communicate how the programs worked.
For Trilio, we already knew that we wanted to utilize an isometric perspective, so we started playing with color palettes and shapes.
I learned that certain shapes frequently represent specific interfaces or users in the industry. This lead to the avoidance of spheres as a whole and cylinders in select areas.
I enjoyed utilizing Trilio's logo (the green arrow) as an element in the video.
Storyboarding
Exaloop's storyboard and style frames played well together and was a really fun format to visualize how the animation might play out as well as help us visualize the different elements and how they might be illustrated.
For Trilio, we leaned heavily on storyboarding in the early stages of the videos to ensure that I had fully grasped the concepts as well as ensuring that the message was coming across as needed.
Putting It Altogether
The videos came together quickly after all the prep work and turned out beautifully. I enjoyed learning about the technology for these projects and challenging myself to put very technical concepts into motion.
